COPSA National Children camp 2018 was just revealing and far reaching for both teachers and the children. The national camp is designed to reach out to children in the Church annually at an exclusive organized camp. It’s an event where the children are exposed deeply and continuously to the gospel in a children relevant way, filled with fun. The children are also among other things exposed to receiving the baptism of the Holy Ghost. Simplicity covered with fun is the buzz phrase. Head Knowledge, Heart Knowledge and Hand Knowledge; that is knowing and accepting the Lord Jesus is the HEAD knowledge, Accepting and TRUST in his word is the HEART knowledge and obedience to his word and living his word as a lifestyle is the HAND knowledge. Thanks to our passionate and teachable Children ministry teachers who availed themselves to the maximum.
The camp was opened for children from 6 years to 12 years old. Camp 2018 welcomed some who are in their teens between ages 13 and 15.
Various topics were treated in a very child friendly and spirit filled manner. Many anointed guest speakers were invited to minister to the kids.
Hannes and Lisa from PETRA College practiced Relational Children Ministry tools (RCM) by interacting with the children on various games ranging from high to low activity games, which is a means of attracting children’s maximum attention and readiness for the gospel. Teachers and the ministers and wives present were all involved in playing games with the children. Their interactions registered the children ministry principle; “I love my teacher, I love my teacher’s Bible and I love my teachers GOD”. It all begins with positive constructive relationship.
Hannes and Lisa Pieterse also engaged the teachers and explained to them on the need for teachers to foster quality relationships with the children to get the cream of their attention. Lisa expounded on the liturgy for children’s ministry which is called the 4 W’s; WELCOME, WORD, WORSHIP AND WORLD; these are the basic tools for ministering unto Children.
Pastor Ebenezer Teye-Mensah and Mrs. Selorm Ablah Kwame of Witbank district were also present. Pastor Kwame ministered on the effects of social media.
The National Children Ministry leader and His Wife Pastor Eric Amoah Bampo and Mrs. Emelia Bampo were the host of the program. Pastor Bampo ministered on the importance of the baptism of the Holy Spirit to every Christian Child and some of the Children received the baptism of the Holy Spirit upon prayer.
Overseer Dominique Dela and Mrs. Elizabeth Denyo of Polokwane district were also present. Overseer Denyo ministered to the Children on the negative impact of unhealthy boy girl relationship and gave the children some points on developing healthy Christian boy girl relationship. He spoke from 1 Corinthians 15:33.
The national deacon, Elder and Deaconess Faustina Assabil were present. Deaconess Faustina Assabil exposed the children to some finest strategies for exams and test preparations.
To God’s glory, our children will never remain the same. They will keep developing and adding to their knowledge of the Savior Jesus Christ.
In conclusion, the 4W’s was practiced at all the services. The children were WELCOMED and there was introduction of games and boundaries were set. The WORD of God was then presented to them at their various levels; they were led to WORSHIP and were trained to apply the word to their WORLD. Horizontal relationship with the teachers, friends and the world around them, then they were led to the Vertical relationship with God the father.
